Cision PR Newswire: AARP Foundation, Rock Health Announce Finalists for 2017 $50K Aging in Place Challenge

AARP Foundation and Rock Health today announced the finalists for the 2017 Aging in Place $50K Challenge, a startup competition for entrepreneurs with innovative solutions that help older adults remain in their homes and communities. The competition is focused on startups working to provide low-income older adults the opportunity to have access to affordable, livable and healthy housing as they age, while helping to reduce unnecessary healthcare services, costs, and hospital readmission rates. This year’s finalists are Dispatch HealthFRND Health and RoundTrip, who will present before a panel of judges with venture capital, payer, clinical, and innovation expertise in San Francisco on December 11.

  • Dispatch Health is redefining healthcare delivery by providing convenient and affordable on-demand acute care services in the home.
  • FRND Health is an on-demand network of RNs and NPs extending care for leading MDs and institutions where it is needed most: home.
  • RoundTrip is a company focused on fixing non-emergency medical transportation by providing live, on-demand and scheduled patient transportation and care coordination services.

In its second year, the award competition called on companies working to reduce unnecessary healthcare services, costs, and hospital readmission rates—especially as described in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services 30-day hospital readmission measure—among the 50-plus population. In collaboration with Rock Health, AARP Foundation invited startups from across the United States to share their innovative solutions to aging in place, offering a $50,000cash prize to the winner.

The finalist presentations will occur at Rock Health offices in San Francisco on December 11.
