Who is Selene Satterfield?
Selene Satterfield serves as an Accounting Associate at Roundtrip, where she supports the company’s accounting and billing operations. Bringing more than 15 years of accounting experience, she found a natural fit at Roundtrip in a mission-driven organization committed to making a meaningful difference. Selene enjoys helping build a strong financial foundation that enables Roundtrip to better serve its clients. She takes pride in delivering reliable financial support that contributes to Roundtrip’s continued growth and success.
Every day, you interact with patient transportation in a way unique to your role. What perspective on patient transportation/NEMT do you wish more people knew?
Before joining Roundtrip, I thought patient transportation mainly meant emergency ambulance rides. I quickly learned that non-emergency medical transportation is just as essential, helping patients get to recurring treatments like dialysis, radiation, and other critical appointments that directly impact their health. Many patients don’t have a reliable support system or simply can’t afford transportation, making access to care a challenge. Patient transportation isn’t just about getting someone from one place to another, it’s about removing barriers so people can receive the care they need.
What mentor or prominent figure has influenced you in your career and why?
The mentor who has had the greatest impact on my career was my first Director of Accounting, Lori. While her leadership style was direct and demanding, her depth of knowledge and commitment to excellence left a lasting impression on me. She taught me to think critically and challenge processes instead of simply accepting them. This helped me pursue both accuracy and efficiency in everything I do. Those principles have become the foundation of my approach to accounting throughout my career.
What do you enjoy about working at Roundtrip?
Aside from the deeply impactful mission that drives Roundtrip, I enjoy our working alongside a team of intelligent and committed individuals. They say you should surround yourself with people smarter than you and I feel really lucky to say that I have definitely found that here with our Roundtrip team!
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
My husband and our two boys are my greatest source of joy and the reason I strive to do my best every day. We love being silly together, watching movies, traveling, playing games, and spending time at the pool. If I’m not with my family, there’s a good chance I’m running errands while listening to an audiobook.
If you could describe Roundtrip’s culture in one word, what would it be and why?
Invested. Everyone at Roundtrip genuinely cares about the work we do and the people we do it for. We’re committed to our mission, but we’re also invested in one another, our clients, our vendors, and the patients we ultimately serve. That level of care creates a culture where people want to do their best and support each other along the way.
If you could donate $1 million to any organization, what would it be and why?
It would be hard to choose just one, so I would split it between our church, Kirkwood Presbyterian Church, and World Central Kitchen. Kirkwood has a meaningful impact on our local community and fosters a truly welcoming and inclusive environment for people from all walks of life. World Central Kitchen inspires me with its ability to provide immediate, compassionate relief to communities affected by disasters and humanitarian crises around the world. Supporting organizations that make both a local and global impact would be an amazing opportunity.
