Who is Joey Kraus?

Joey Kraus is Roundtrip’s Service Lead who manages day-to-day operations for end user and rider support, including Roundtrip’s phone and email support teams, to ensure effective and efficient problem solving. He is always in pursuit of process improvements and quality assurance. Joey also manages the authorization team, which encompasses researching payer processes, implementing workflows, and ensuring smooth execution of authorization processes. Roundtrip is Joey’s first healthcare adjacent role, and he just celebrated his 5-year work anniversary in June 2026.

Every day, you interact with patient transportation in a way unique to your role. What perspective on patient transportation/NEMT do you wish more people knew?

A huge part of the healthcare industry resolves around health insurance and navigating this complex system. Everyone knows their insurance will help cover their medical bills, however getting patient transportation covered can be equally as complex and is a huge part of what we do at Roundtrip. I wish more people knew about their benefits involving transportation, some of which can help you get to routine appointments or get you home from the hospital after being discharged.

What mentor or prominent figure has influenced you in your career and why?

One influential figure who I met in college before my career is Carolyn Massiah. She was my professor for a short time but showed me that solving problems can be fun and inspired me to continue down the path of business administration. I also want to reserve room here for all of my colleagues here at Roundtrip. Everyone has supported me in their own ways and contributed to my own personal growth.

What do you enjoy about working at Roundtrip?

The part of working at Roundtrip that I enjoy the most is getting to work with my team and colleagues. They are all some of the smartest and most lovely people I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

When I am not working I am usually spending time with my wife and my two cats. I love unwinding by taking long bike rides, tending to my garden, and playing video games.

If you could describe Roundtrip’s culture in one word, what would it be and why?

Collaborative – Our team excels at putting our minds together to help navigate complex issues and implement smart solutions.

If you could donate $1 million to any organization, what would it be and why?

I would aim to donate money to local organizations to help those in need, like the Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida, and the Pet Alliance of Orlando for our furry friends too.
